New Canaan Library’s Children’s Room presents a thrilling Chinese acrobatics program perfect for children ages 4 and older (with an adult) on Wednesday, July 18 at 3:30 pm.

Please Note: due to ongoing repair work on the Library’s lower level following flooding, the performance is being held offsite at the Lapham Community Center in Waveny Park. The Library very much appreciates the use of Lapham’s space. This is a drop in program; registration not required.

Amazing acrobat Li Liu will performs feats of hand balancing, plate spinning, ribbon dancing, diabols, foot juggling & Chinese Kung Fu fan manipulation! A few volunteers will get to join Li on stage to create an impromptu ribbon dance and try their hands at plate spinning.

The program will also have educational aspects, such as connections with the Chinese language and culture. Li will explain some of the rituals of Chinese New Year, teach the audience basic Chinese phrases and encourage thinking about what it might be like to grow up in a different time and place.

*DIRECTIONS TO LAPHAM: From Lapham Road enter into Waveny Park between the stone pillars, take first left and follow to the end (you will pass the Waveny Swimming pool on the left). The Lapham Center is a quaint, turn of the century house and is located between the old Waveny Mansion and the New Canaan High School. Parking is available on-site.
