During the 2015 holiday season, Whole Foods Market Darien hosted a Giving Campaign for Person-to-Person, raising more than $2,600.

During the campaign, customers were asked for donations in the amount of $2, $5 or $10 to fund the purchase of various items – including oatmeal, macaroni and cheese, soup and personal care products – for the P2P Darien Food Pantry.

“We support them with bi-weekly pickups of perishable and non-perishable items that are used to help individuals and families in need. We felt this was another way we could increase our impact on our local community.”

P2P Executive Director Ceci Maher acknowledges the long-standing support of Whole Foods Market Darien. “When the Market opened in May 2010, they hosted more than 2,000 guests at a preview benefit. One hundred percent of the $10 cash donation at the door went to P2P for the Emergency Assistance Program.” Since that time, Whole Foods Market Darien has continued to provide donations of cash and food to benefit P2P clients.

According to Marketing Team Leader Lucia Albero, Whole Foods Market Darien is very passionate about alleviating hunger.

“During the holiday season we wanted to make a difference in our local community and give to individuals and families in need,” she said. “We chose Person-to-Person to donate to, because they have such a positive impact in our community, affecting over 24,000 people locally.”

“We appreciate this partnership with Whole Foods Market Darien and we are grateful to the customers who made donations,” says Maher. “With the support of our neighbors, we are working to create hunger-free homes and stable communities.”
