Have you ever wondered if you took a drug test what song your urine would sing about you?  Are you appalled by the question?  Are you thinking, “I don’t do drugs”, so the song would be a short one and talking about urine songs is kind of disgusting?

Maybe.

Then, let me ask you this, are you taking any opiate prescriptions such as Oxycodone, Oxycontin or Vicodin?  If you are, and you are going to undergo a pre-employment screen, you may need to leave the  pills behind for up to four or five days, because that’s how long some prescription opiates can be detected in your urine.

If you take a hair follicle test, most opiates can show up 90 days after your last usage.  This includes heroin.

What about booze?  Depending upon how much you drink, (read how drunk you were last night), alcohol can be detected in your urine for twelve hours and possibly longer.

As for marijuana, here’s what you can expect about a urine test for weed:

  • A one time user may show positive for 1-6 days.
  • A moderate user may test positive for 7-13 days.
  • A frequent user may test positive for 15 days or more.
  • A heavy user may still have a positive urine test after more than 30 days – AND
  • If you’re a heavy pot smoker, the weed may show up in a urine test for as long as 90 days after you quit smoking.

According to The Washington Post, the federal government regularly subjects 400,000 of its employees to random urine tests.

You can be sure that workplace testing will increase as recreational marijuana and even medical marijuana spreads across the United States.

So, what’s in your urine?  Only you know – until the song starts.
