Annual reminder: Forget “Presidents Day.” That’s just an informal name. Go old school for this one: It’s officially Washington’s Birthday.

Here’s what’s open, here’s what’s closed this weekend:

FRIDAY, Feb. 16
  • Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles offices will close at 12:30 p.m., and remain closed on Saturday, Feb. 17. And they’re normally closed on Mondays.  Offices will reopen on Tuesday, Feb. 20, at 7:45 a.m.
  • Darien Public Schools are closed.
SATURDAY, Feb. 17
  • Darien Transfer Station/Recycling Center/Dump is OPEN normal hours

 

WASHINGTON’S BIRTHDAY, Feb. 19

  • Darien Public Schools are closed all week for February break.
  • Darien Town Hall is closed.
  • Darien Senior Center is closed.
  • YWCA Darien/Norwalk is closed.
  • New York Stock Exchange is closed.
  • Connecticut state offices are closed.
  • Federal government offices are closed.
  • U.S. Postal Service — the Post Office — is closed.

Open:

  • Darien Transfer Station/Recycling Center/Dump is OPEN normal hours
  • Darien Library is open.
  • Darien YMCA is open.

TRANSIT:

  • CT Transit buses will operate on a regular weekday schedule.
  • Norwalk Transit Authority buses will run on a regular weekday schedule.
  • “Metro-North will operate a Saturday schedule.  See our schedules page for details. Grand Central North will be closed.”
