Starting this Saturday morning, Oct. 7 here’s where state Department of Transportation work on highways will restrict traffic near Darien:

This Saturday, Oct. 7

Merritt Parkway in Norwalk and Westport

Surveying will take place on each side of the parkway from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday:

— On the southbound-traffic side of the parkway surveying will close lanes between Exit 41 (Route 33, Wilton Road) and Exit 38 (Route 123, New Canaan Ave.).

— On the northbound-traffic side of the highway, surveying will close lanes between Exit 36 (Route 106, Old Stamford Road) and Exit 40A (Route 719, Main Ave.).

Mondays through Fridays, Oct. 9 to 27

A nighttime bridge maintenance project on both the northbound- and southbound-traffic sides of Interstate 95 between Exits 4 and 5 in Greenwich will take place starting at 9 p.m., Monday and continuing weeknights through Oct. 27. Although that’s the schedule, it’s possible that changes could take place because of weather or other factors, the department warns.

Two Saturdays from Now, Oct 14

This 12-hour ramp closure does not have any effects on a direct route from Darien to Stamford:

Exit 8 on the NORTHBOUND-traffic side of Interstate 95 in Downtown Stamford will be closed from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 14. The department advises drivers to use the next off ramp, at Exit 7. There is a posted detour route.

“The closure is necessary to facilitate the installation of a deep drainage-crossing pipe required for the new Exit 8 off-ramp storm drainage system,” the department said in an announcement.
