After an early morning phone call Wednesday to police from a woman who said she just saw a neighbor’s vehicle burglarized by two people, Darien police arrested them both. Darien police described the incident today (Wednesday, May 4) with this account (including accusations not proven in court):

A resident of Intervale Road told police at 5:30 a.m. to report the burglary she said she’d just seen. Several officers went to the area. Nearby, on Devon Road, Officers Daniel Noto and Daniel Gorton found a subject who matched the caller’s description. Police determined the subject, a 17-year-old Stamford boy, was one of the two burglars, and they arrested him.

Items delivered and put in or near a mailbox on Wilson Ridge Road were stolen early last week at about the same time that a resident of the Post Road, nearby, found items stolen from her vehicle. Darien police gave this description of the thefts reported to them:

On Wilson Ridge Road

A resident told police she believed that on Tuesday, Dec. 22, UPS delivered a gingerbread house in a small box and an envelope which were then stolen. The UPS delivery man usually leaves the items by or in the mailbox, she said, although she didn’t have UPS tracking information available when she made the report. A woman told the victim that an envelope with the Wilson Ridge home’s address was found on the ground on Hillside Avenue (and that’s when the victim realized items had been stolen).
