School Opens Two-Hours Later Due to the Weather

Darien Public Schools will be on a two-hour delay on Thursday, the district has announced, and the National Weather Service says roads are slippery. Holly Pond School and all youth programs will begin at 10am today, Darien YMCA announced. When there are two-hour delayed openings, schools open at these times:

— Darien High School — 9:40 a.m.

— Middlesex Middle School — 9:55 a.m.

Elementary Schools:

—Tokeneke/Hindley/Royle  — 10:25 a.m.

—Ox Ridge/Holmes — 11:00 a.m.

Early Learning Program:

—for classes opening at 8:30 a.m.* — late opening is at 10:40 a.m.

—for classes opening at 9:30 a.m.* — late opening is  at 11:40 a.m.

“Light snow is falling across much of the region as of 6:30 a.m., with reports of less than a half inch to just over an inch thus far,” the National Weather Service tweeted. “With temperatures well down into the 20s roads will be slick as the effectiveness of road treatment is mitigated to some degree. Use caution.”

Darien Public Schools, like other school districts in the area and some private schools, have announced a two-hour delay in the start of today’s school day, the district has announced. _________

LIST OF AREA DELAYS
These schools or other institutions are delayed two hours Monday morning, unless otherwise noted:

Holly Pond School will open at 10 a.m., the Darien YMCA announced. St. Luke’s School in New Canaan is on a 90-minute delay
New Canaan Country School
Norwalk Community College
University of Connecticut campuses across the state will open at 10 a.m.

There are two-hour delays for New Canaan, Norwalk, Westport, Wilton and Weston public schools as well.
