Update: Tax Holiday on Clothing, Shoes Under $100, Aug 20 to 26; Textbooks Always Exempt for Students

Second update: Monday Aug. 14: Along with the upcoming state sales tax holiday on clothing, State Rep. Terrie Wood, in an email to constituents, reminds everybody that students who present college identification at the time of purchase can get college textbooks without paying the state’s 6.35 percent tax. And that’s year-round. Here’s the state government’s description of the textbook exemption. Here’s an excerpt from Wood’s email, sent out Monday:
This one-week event eliminates Connecticut’s 6.35 percent sales tax on all clothing and footwear costing less than $100 per item.
