Two Unlocked SUVs Entered on Hollow Tree Ridge Road

Vehicles parked in two different driveways on Hollow Tree Ridge Road were entered overnight between Nov. 6 and 7. Some items were taken from one of them. Both vehicles had been left unlocked. Police gave these descriptions of the incidents:

Police Chief: Suspect Identified in ‘at Least Four’ Recent Vehicle Burglaries

A suspect has been identified in “at least four” recent vehicle burglaries, Darien Police Chief Duane Lovello told the Police Commission on Wednesday. The suspect was “stopped by the night shift, and they [detectives] will be doing a warrant” for the suspect’s arrest, Lovello said. Lovello may or may not have been referring to a male police stopped on the Post Road, a non-Darien resident was seen riding a bicycle at 12:14 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 11 on the Post Road. The male was stopped on the same night items were stolen from two vehicles parked in driveways on Goodwives River Road.

Two Handbags Stolen Overnight from Vehicles on Goodwives River Rd

Twice overnight from Saturday to Sunday handbags were stolen from vehicles parked in driveways off of Goodwives River Road, and in both cases the handbags were later found, but without the money that was in them, police say. Darien police also stopped a “suspicious person” who is not a Darien resident, riding a bicycle at about 12:14 a.m. Sunday on the Post Road. Police are very actively looking into whether that person, a male, had anything to do with the thefts, or with a similar theft discovered on Seagate Road on Monday, Sept. 28. Minivan Window Smashed, $300 Taken, But Purse Later Found

A Seagate Road woman’s minivan was broken into after the front passenger window was smashed in order for a thief to get at a purse sometime overnight Sunday to Monday, Sept. 27 to 28. Her Queen Bee Studio purse was taken (which contained her Coach wallet, which contained $300 and various credit cards), the woman found just before 8 a.m. She soon reported the theft to police. It could not be determined what was used to break the window. The vehicle had been parked in her driveway since 5 p.m., Sunday.
