In order to assist our community in enjoying this fun-filled holiday as safely as possible, the Darien Police Department has compiled the following Halloween safety tips for children, parents, motorists, and homeowners:

Tips for a Safe Halloween

PARENTS
• Always escort your children and carry a flashlight. • Be familiar with the neighborhood where your children will be trick-or-treating. • Set a specific time for your child/children to be out. • Always know who is trick-or-treating with your children. • Walk on the sidewalks and not in the middle of the street.

Trunk or Treat for Kids this Halloween

Join in Trunk or Treat, a free, annual family event: Bring candy, kids in costumes and even decorated cars to the Noroton Presbyterian Church’s newly paved/designed parking lot on Oct. 30 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. There will be free goodie bags for all children. Click here for more information. Fill your trunk with treats, decorate it (if you so wish), bring the kids and go trick or treating from car to car.  No crossing streets, long dark driveways and LOTS of fun!  All we ask is to keep the costumes and decorations appropriate and not scary.  Questions?  Contact Liz at 203-309-5619 or liz.morelli@norotonchurch.org. “Trunk or Treat” had its inaugural date after Hurricane Sandy downed Darien’s power wires so severely that “Halloween Trick or Treating” in Darien was cancelled.
