Although their marriage becomes strained, Gerda stands by Lili as she explores her true self and eventually undergoes one of the world’s first gender-reassignment surgeries in the 1930s. Friday Night Feature: ‘Concussion’ Starring Will Smith

The movie Concussion (2015) is Darien Library’s Friday Night Feature for Friday, June 3. It will play at 6:30 and 8:30 p.m. in the Community Room at the library. The film stars Will Smith and also features Stephen Moyer, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Alec Baldwin, Eddie Marsan, Luke Wilson; Rated PG-13; 123 minutes; Presented with Captions for the hearing impaired. Filmmaker Peter Landesman (Parkland) wrote and directed this sports-themed drama based on Jeanne Marie Laskas’ GQ article “Game Brain,” about the potentially horrific cost of playing football. Pittsburgh-based neuropathologist Dr. Bennet Omalu (Will Smith) discovers a degenerative brain disease now known as CTE in the autopsies of several deceased pro-football players, but after presenting his research, he finds himself under fire from the NFL.
