Arrest Made After December Bar Assault

A 43-year-old Norwalk man has been arrested on assault charges after police say he punched a Darien man, 51, giving him “severe facial injuries.” The Darien man is continuing to receive medical treatment, police said. Police gave this account of the matter (including accusations not proven in court):
Christopher Aikler, of Bayne St. in Norwalk, was removed from Chez Ernie’s Café at 25 Tokeneke Road shortly before 1 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 18, after he struck the Darien man with a glass, then struck a Southbury man, 51, with his fist.
