Police, alerted to a party with at least 20 to 30 teenagers on Dickenson Road, found cases of beer and charged the host, who had turned 18 that day, with failure to halt possession of alcohol by a minor. A resident of the street called police at 9:17 p.m. to complain of a large party with teenagers. The party at first had appeared to have broken up but later a group returned, and the party got much larger, police were told. When police arrived, they found 20 to 30 youths standing on the property, some holding cardboard boxes that looked a lot like beer cases. When they saw police arriving, the youths scattered.

Acting on an anonymous online tip, Darien police say that on on Saturday they found a few teenagers, ages 16 and 17, and five 30-packs of cold beer at a party on Brookside Road. ______________

Correction: Darien police say only a few youths were found at the house where the party took place. They did not see 20 to 30 there, as initially reported in this article. The initial, anonymous report to police, unconfirmed, was that 20 to 30 teenagers were at the party. The article headline and text are now changed.

Darien police say that when they arrived after getting a number of reports of a large party of teenagers at a house at 480 Mansfield Ave., they found 25 to 30 youths in the driveway, another 50 to 75 in the back yard and another 10 or so in the house. That totals 85 to 115 or so partygoers — the largest police count for a teenage party with alcohol in recent years. Police described the incident with this account (including accusations not proven in court);

Some damage was done to the house, with a hole in the sheetrock ceiling of the living room. Police found hundreds red plastic cups, beer containers and liquor in the driveway, in the back yard, in the basement, in the kitchen and living room and in other rooms in the house, including bedrooms.

The house smelled of alcohol. In the basement, table was set up to play beer pong.

Darien Boy, 15, Taken to Hospital After Drinking Party on Bishop’s Gate Road

A 15-year-old boy, found lying on the ground on Bishop’s Gate Road late Saturday night, appears to have been at a teenage drinking party on that street and was taken to a hospital, where he was treated and released, police said. Darien police gave this account of the incident, which did not result in any arrests:

At about 11:30 p.m., police received a report that youths were loitering in the area, but when officers arrived, they saw nobody and left. A short time later, an officer went back to the scene and saw the teenager lying on the ground. Attempts to talk with the boy were unsuccessful, and Darien EMS-Post 53 was called. An ambulance took the boy to a hospital for treatment.

Police: Host, 19, Arrested After Teen Drinking Party on Althea Lane

When an area resident complained about suspicious behavior in the area of Althea Lane and Hanson Road just past midnight on Saturday, police said they found a teenage drinking party had just taken place in a nearby home. A 19-year-old resident of the home on Althea Lane was charged with providing alcohol to minors, and police called the parents of two teenagers found in the house, although all the other attendees at the party appeared to have left before police arrived at about 12:40 a.m., police said. Darien police gave this account (including accusations not proven in court):

At about 12:40 a.m., a neighborhood resident told police that males were talking in the area and two suspicious males with flashlights were running from a house on Althea Lane where a burglary had taken place in the past. The resident told police that the two got in a car and left. Police came and walked up to the house, seeing Natural Light beer cans on the lawn.

Host Charged After Police Alerted to Teen Drinking Party on Swifts Lane

An under-age party with alcohol on Swifts Lane broke up with the arrival of Darien police at about 11:49 p.m. on Friday, May 20, police said, adding that the host was arrested, and his parents, the homeowners, were away. Darien police described the incident and arrest with this account (including accusations not proven in court):

Police received notification through the online tipline that a party with teenagrs and alcohol was suspected of taking place. A police officer went to the scene. The police report mentions only one other officer at the scene during what was a busy weekend for police in town. As an officer approached the house, he saw a teenage male in front, standing with a case of beer at his feet.

Police: Teenage Host Charged After Underage Party with Alcohol

Darien police, receiving a tip Saturday night through the department’s new online tip service that teenagers were drinking at a party on Brookside Road, found the party, the teenagers and the alcohol. The tip came in at 9:44 p.m. When police showed up at the residence of the address they were given, they saw a female standing in front of the garage, which is detached from the house. The homeowner met them at the door and told them his son had some friends over in a room connected to the detached garage. When police entered the room, they found 17 teenagers, along with a table with a lot of red plastic cups on it set up for beer pong and four 30-packs of beer on the floor. None of the teens would say who brought the alcohol.

After Darien police found more than 15 teenagers, aged 16 to 18 years old, at a party Friday on Palmer Lane with lots of alcohol consumption, the parents of the teenage host were each charged with failure to halt illegal possession of alcohol by a minor, police said. The parents were each issued misdemeanor summonses to appear in state Superior Court in Stamford on March 7. The teenagers were each charged with possession of alcohol by a minor, an infraction that carries a $136 fine. And all of their parents were informed, a Police Department policy. The incident is still under investigation and further charges may be filed.
