Pamela James, 85, of Darien passed away suddenly on Tuesday, Nov. 14. She was born on June 29, 1932 in Bristol, England and was the daughter of John and Ellen May Shopland. Pamela is predeceased by son, John Oliver James; and a brother Graham Shopland. Pamela is survived by her loving son, Paul James, and his wife, Jane, of Stamford; four adoring grandchildren: Melissa Warga and her husband, Andrew, of Darien; Scott James of Stamford; Brian James and his wife, Momoko, of Yokosuka, Japan; and Theodore James of Pennsylvania; as well as three great-grandchildren: Emma, Isabella and James Warga of Darien; many loving nieces and nephews from across the pond in Bristol, England.

Barbara Louise Corry, 90, passed peacefully into Heaven on Monday, Nov. 6, 2017 in Seminole, Fl.  She was born Feb. 2, 1927, in Chicago, the daughter of Charles and Eleanor Swift. After a childhood in Chicago, Barbara left farm life in Elburn, Ill., to attend the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City, where she met her photographer husband, Christopher Corry. Together they raised nine children, moving from New York City to Darien, and then to Seminole.  Nothing was more important to Barbara than faith in Jesus Christ, studying His Word, and sharing what it means with others.

Mary Pickard Whyte, 98, died peacefully at home in Darien on Nov. 7, 2017. Born in the Hell’s Kitchen section of New York City, Mary lived previously in Scarsdale, N.Y., Chappaqua, N.Y., Harrisburg, Pa., Greenwich and Norwalk. She was predeceased by her husband, Bill Whyte, and her daughter, Honey Whyte Scuterud. She was a member of the Junior League of America in several states and later employed by them to assist groups in many states qualify to become official leagues and also to organize and manage their national conventions.

Sharon Uva Clark, 58, of Bridgeport, passed away Nov. 7 at St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Bridgeport. Sharon was born in Stamford, May 21, 1959, daughter of Joseph Uva and Genevieve Maleski Uva and step-daughter of Joan Uva. She was a graduate of Darien High School, Class of 1977, and was a former horse rider for New Canaan Mounted Troop, where she participated in many horse riding competitions.

Morris E. O’Brien, 91, of Darien, beloved husband of Doris (Finley) O’Brien for 67 years, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Nov. 9, 2017, at Connecticut Hospice in Branford. He was born in Stamford on April 7, 1926 to the late Thomas and Margaret (Murphy) O’Brien, and was a longtime Darien resident. Morris, known to many who loved him as “O’Bie” was a U.S. Navy veteran and served in the Pacific during World War II. He worked as an electrician at Partridge and Rockwell Electric, which later became known as Vivian Electric of Greenwich.

Blevins Coke Dunklin, Jr. passed away peacefully in his home at 1:05 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 5, 2017. Blev was born in Bronxville, N.Y. on Oct. 3, 1933. Blev graduated from Bronxville High School and went on to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he studied chemical engineering and graduated with a degree in business. He became a stockbroker for Clark Dodge and worked on Wall Street for a few years.

Barbara Griffing Wagner, 80, passed away peacefully in Glastonbury on Saturday, Nov. 5. She was surrounded by loved ones near and far. She was predeceased by her parents, Scudder and Mildred Griffing, and her husband, Warren Wagner, whom she married on Shelter Island, N.Y. on Dec. 28, 1960.

Amie Modigh entered eternal life on Oct. 21, 2017 in the company of her spouse, Sandy Venegoni, and her faithful miniature schnauzer, Richie. Born Anne-Marie Modigh in Stockholm, Sweden on July 13, 1933, she was the fourth child born to Carl Gustaf Modigh and Helene Tjader Modigh. Older siblings included Richard (Dick), Carl-Gustaf Sven, and Margaret, all of whom are deceased. Her early years were spent growing up and attending school in Halmstad, Sweden.

Edward Carabillo, 90, of Darien and Misquamicut, R.I., husband of the late Nancy (Berry) Carabillo, died Sunday Oct. 15, 2017 in a motor vehicle accident. The son of Antonio and Laura (Pallanga) Carabillo, Ed was born and raised in Hartford and graduated from Weaver High School. After being discharged from the U.S. Army, he attended Willimantic State Teachers College, where he met and married his beloved Nancy. Ed and Nancy were married for 50 years before she passed away from ALS in 2001.

Peter Cole Palmer, 87, of Charleston, S.C. passed away peacefully in Wallingford on Nov. 5, 2017. Born in Aurora, Ill. in 1930, Peter was the son of Kenneth Cole and Janet Watson Palmer. He graduated from West Aurora High School and the University of Illinois in 1952, where he was elected to the Skull and Crescent Honorary Society and served as president of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity.

Charles Henry Micha, 69, passed away Oct. 6, 2017 in his home in Hudson, Fl., after a courageous battle against cancer. Charlie was born March 26, 1948 in Stamford to Charles & Doris Micha. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving on the U.S.S. Midway and U.S.S. Hornet, which picked up the Apollo 11 & 12 moon shots. Charlie was very passionate and well respected in all that he endeavored to do.
