Police: Darien Man, 29, Tries to Abduct Ex-Girlfriend in Stratford, Then Torches Her Vehicle

Pedro Oristanio, 29, of Darien unsuccessfully tried to abduct a woman described as his ex-girlfriend in Stratford on Tuesday night, and when that idea somehow failed, he set fire to the woman’s car, parked near the woman’s home, Stratford Police said. Police detectives went to the scene and determined that Oristanio might be headed to one of three locations out of town, one of them in New Canaan, where police picked him up, police said. He was taken to Stratford Police Headquarters, where he was charged with attempted kidnapping, unlawful restraint, second-degree arson, first-degree criminal mischief and second-degree threatening, police said. So he appears to have wanted a charge, according to the police report. A dispute with his sister was so charged up, police said, that both were charged by police. Darien police gave this account (including accusations not proven in court) of an incident Oct. 25 that resulted in disorderly conduct charges against a Darien man, 19, and his 21-year-old sister, both residents of Allen O’Neill Drive:

At 3:35 p.m., police were called to the scene on the report of a loud argument. The young man had returned home to give his sister an iPhone charger he had borrowed from her.

A 20-year-old McCrae Road man was charged with driving while under the influence after a 7 p.m. traffic accident on Aug. 5, then arrested on domestic violence charges at about 9:30 p.m. the next evening, police said. Darien police gave these accounts of each incident (including accusations not proven in court):

Police were called to the intersection of McCrae Road and Old Kings Highway South on a report of a traffic accident. The man was driving a 2004 Infinity G35, which received heavy front-end damage and the air bags deployed when the accident occurred with a UPS truck. The McCrae Road man said he had no idea what had happened.

Darien Man, 49, Arrested Twice Within a Week on Domestic Violence Charges

A Walmsley Road man struck an elderly person’s arm in a July 27 domestic violence incident, then violated the terms of his probation six days later when he pulled a door shut on the hand of the same person, Darien police said. Each incident resulted in the arrest of William King, 49,  of 8 Walmsley Road. Police said they have been called to the house on multiple occasions for similar reasons. (On May 25, Bridgeport police arrested a William King with the same middle initial and birth year on a charge of second-degree breach of peace, according to the Connecticut Judicial Branch website.)

In the first incident that led to an arrest, police arriving after a 10 a.m. call found King outside the house and the victim inside. He said he had been in an argument with the victim about who was going to do the laundry, part of ongoing tension between the two, but that no physical contact had occurred.

A 33-year-old Darien woman was charged after she called police about a fight at home and police saw scratch marks and cuts on her husband. Darien police described the matter with this account (including accusations not proven in court):

The couple had been arguing on the evening of Wednesday, June 22, when the husband went into his office. The wife followed him in and began unplugging her computer, which she didn’t want him to use. The couple yelled at each other and argued. The husband told police his wife had been drinking and had become more aggressive.

Darien police say they received a number of complaints from neighbors about yelling and screaming coming from a home on Lynn Court on Saturday, and after police looked into it, they charged three people with disorderly conduct, one with assault.

At 12:26 a.m., police responded to the complaints. When a man answered the door, police could hear yelling from inside the house. When police spoke with three adults in the house, they were told an argument had escalated between the women into a shoving match and the throwing of a laundry basket back and forth. When a man tried to stop the fighting, he punched one of the women in the arm several times when, instead of making peace, he got angry himself. No one was seriously injured, although police saw red marks on at least one of the women.

According to police, the father of a Darien teenage girl going to a prom last week said he’d spent the day helping her shop to get ready, but when the girl’s mother arrived home and saw her daughter leaving with prom clothes in hand, an argument started. That eventually led to the man’s arrest. Darien police gave this account (including accusations not proven in court):

The father, a 43-year-old man who lives in Norwalk, is subject to an order of protection barring him from actions including threatening or assault against the mother. (It did not mandate that he have no contact with the mother.)

The order of protection resulted from a previous domestic dispute. The mother, a Darien resident with custody of the daughter, told police that she allows the father to spend time with his daughter.

A 54-year-old Darien woman is being held without bond after she was arrested Feb. 16, when a juvenile in her household told police the woman threatened the juvenile with a knife and the two got into a minor physical confrontation. Darien police described the incident with this account (which includes accusations not proven in court and which doesn’t include any identifying information about the juvenile — something police are forbidden to give out under a new state law):

The woman told police she and the juvenile were arguing about the juvenile not studying, and the argument turned physical. The woman said she took the juvenile’s phone by force. The two pushed each other back and forth after the juvenile said he or she intended to call police.

A 47-year-old resident of Duffy’s Lane threatened and assaulted another family member on two different domestic violence incidents, according to Darien police. He was also charged with risk of injury to a minor, a felony. On Tuesday, Feb. 9, the victim reported the matter to police and told police she had spoken with an attorney earlier that day and had already gotten a restraining order against the man. Her lawyer had recommended that she file a complaint with police.
