Darien police have arrested a 24-year-old Bronx man in connection with the June 12 robbery of Chase Bank at 454 Post Road, and the man is suspected in other bank robberies in Connecticut, including the later robbery of the Chase Bank branch on Noroton Avenue, police said. Police gave this additional information about the arrest, including accusations not proven in court:

The Darien bank was robbed by a man passing a note that indicated he had a weapon. Darien police detectives worked with detectives from police departments in Waterbury, Westport and Pawtucket, R.I., where it was believed the same robber had stolen from banks. The effort was coordinated by the FBI office in New Haven, which helped the investigations when needed. Some details about the two Darien bank robberies and images of the suspect led Darien police to believe the two robberies were related.

A man with a note implying he had a gun robbed the Chase Bank branch at the corner of Noroton Avenue and Heights Road shortly before 1 p.m., Tuesday, Darien police said. The robber didn’t show a weapon, and no one was hurt in the incident. He was given money by the teller and immediately left the building. The tall, black man’s image was captured by a surveillance video camera, but the man himself got away in a white sedan that may have had New Jersey license plates, police said. At 1 p.m., Darien police were called to the bank, at 165 Noroton Ave., and police detectives processed the scene for evidence.

Darien police are investigating a bank robbery that occurred at about 3:30 p.m., Monday in the Chase Bank at 454 Post Road, in the same shopping plaza where Trader Joe’s and Orvis are located. No weapon was pulled out and no one was injured. Police say that police were called to the scene at 3:35 p.m. after a man walked into the bank and passed a note with a demand for money to a female teller. She gave him money from her cash drawer, and he left, then got in a white Toyota Camry, which left on the Post Road, going east, toward Norwalk. The exact amount of money stolen was still being tallied late Tuesday morning when police announced the incident.
