Looking for something for your young teen to do during summer break? On Monday, July 2, Stamford EMS is offering children in grades 6 to 8 an opportunity to learn how to be safe and effective babysitters.  
The Safe Sitter course teaches students the skills needed to care for themselves and younger children. The next class will be held on Monday, July 2 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Stamford Emergency Medical Services, Inc., 684 Long Ridge Road in Stamford. “We aim to teach students the skills. necessary to be a proper babysitter, including safety skills, first aid, rescue and child care skills. With this course, students can confidently take on any job,” said Jessica Anderson, Stamford EMS Lieutenant and Academy Training Coordinator.

Teens Have Two Options on Classes on Better Babysitting — But Register SOON

Teenagers interested in becoming better and safer at babysitting can take somewhat different classes in April either in Darien or Stamford. Register SOON: Anyone who wants the Stamford option should act fast — there were only four seats left as of Saturday, March 31. The two-session Darien class is also filling up, with seven seats left as of Saturday. Stamford Emergency Medical Services has a single class. It takes place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, April 11, during school vacation.

Does your 6th-8th Grader want to get certified by the Red Cross for babysitting? This course is $150 and designed for young people to gain the knowledge and skills necessary to safely and responsibly give care to infants and children in a residential setting. Learn basic child care and basic first aid. Participants will receive a certificate of completion. Space is limited.
