Author Tim Payne, Veteran of Afghan War, Speaks Saturday at Atria Darien

Atria Darien will host a book signing event and talk at 6:30 p.m., Saturday, May 20 by former U.S. Army Sgt. Tim Payne, author of Chosen, who will share his inspirational journey after losing both legs on a combat mission in Afghanistan. The event, held on U.S. Armed Forces Day, will benefit Atria Darien’s rowing partner, Veterans Rowing & Kayaking. The color guard from Port Five Naval Veterans group, Bridgeport, will be on hand. Local dignitaries participating include Connecticut State Sen. Bob Duff, First Selectman Jayme Stevenson and Archie Elam, commander of Fairfield County’s branch of Connecticut Veterans of Foreign Wars. Before the event a dinner will be held at 5 p.m. for Atria Darien’s resident veterans, members of the local chapter of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and others.
