Six motor vehicles — all of them unlocked — were entered sometime overnight from Thursday to Friday, July 13 to 14, on Thomasina Lane (a dead-end road off of Dubois Street), Darien police said.

The first theft report was at 8:30 a.m. from 5 Thomasina Lane, and the next reports came soon after (except for the last, which came in at 12:52 p.m.). Usually, police canvassing a neighborhood after a theft from an unlocked vehicle find that other vehicles were entered.

  • A white 2017 Lexus NX200T and a black 2011 Toyota 4Runner parked in the driveway of 5 Thomasina Lane were entered. About $5 in loose change were taken from each vehicle. (Reported at 8:30 a.m., Thursday.)
  • A black 2011 Honda Pilot was entered at 15 Thomasina Lane, and a pocket knife of unknown value taken from the glovebox, which was found open.
  • A black 2017 Toyota Sienna was entered at 19 Thomasina Lane, and about $10 in loose change was taken from the glove box, which was found open.
  • A black 2013 Tesla Model S and a yellow 2009 Jeep Wrangler in the driveway at 23 Thomasina Lane were entered and glove boxes in each were found open, but nothing seemed to be missing.

Investigation of these motor vehicle burglaries is ongoing.

Editor’s note: Darienite publishes addresses where unlocked cars are entered, since the way to stop these thefts is obvious, and people in a neighborhood should know who’s attracting thieves.
