If students know how to study, they will be more successful in school. This seems obvious. But, do they know how?

S4 Study Skills WorkshopWhether your student is feeling overwhelmed, overworked, frustrated, or simply wants to do their personal best this academic year, they may also attend a workshop where the curriculum is built on evidence-based study skills specifically designed for middle and high school students. The S4 workshops foster academic achievement by teaching students key study strategies that help them learn and achieve better academic success.

“Parents, students and teachers agree the S4 Study Skills Workshops are a great way to learn how to study off campus. It is clear that study skills offer the pathway to academic success in school, and we are pleased to host the S4 program here in Darien so that all students may benefit,” said Pam Ha-Stevenson, Board Member, The Depot Youth Center.

Essential Study Skills for Middle School Students is being held: Saturdays, Jan. 23, 30, Feb. 6, 2016, from 9to 11:30 a.m.

Workshops are limited to 15 students.

The S4 program is founded on educational research and evidence-based studies. Its highly interactive approach is designed to clearly demonstrate how to apply students’ own curriculum and course material to the taught methodologies and systems. The workshops are taught by experience teachers. Each class is limited to 15 students.

Michelle Sagalyn, president of S4 said, “We are excited to be back at the Depot Youth Center with this highly effective program for middle school students. Whether students are looking to acquire basic skills in organization, time management, and executive functioning strategies, or simply looking to improve their overall academic experience, these tools – when used – will help them succeed. Implementing even a single new skill has been shown to boost students’ motivation and academic performance.”

The S4 programs are designed to bolster academic confidence, motivation and preparation as academic workload and expectations increase rise. Skills taught include: planning, organizing, executive functioning strategies, as well as quiz, test, and long-term project preparation strategies.

S4 partners with public, independent, charter and parochial schools to offer an accessible, logical and easy-to-implement study skills system.
