Robert R. O’Neill of Bridgeport and Pawcatuck passed away on Thursday Feb. 2 after a battle with a short and unexpected illness. He was 65 years old.
He was born Nov. 10, 1951 in Stamford, son of the late Richard and Ann O’Neill (Yeruc).
Bob was raised in Darien and graduated from Darien High School. He was an employee of the New Canaan Post Office for many years.
He is survived by his longtime partner, Fran Rakoczy. He is also survived by his brother, Alan O’Neill of Milford; his sister, Diane O’Neill (and her husband Gene LeQuire) of Anchorage, Alaska.
Bob was also a devoted father and grandfather. He is survived by his daughter Kristin Hermes, her husband Thomas, and their children Grace and Charlie. He is also survived by his son Michael, his wife Megan, and their children Deacon and Preston.

Bob loved music, playing guitar, road trips, and days at the beach. He cherished times with his grandchildren. He will be deeply missed.
Calling hours will be held from 4 to 6:30 p.m., Wednesday Feb. 8, 2017 at the Dennis & D’Arcy-Abriola & Kelemen Funeral Home, 2611 Main St., Stratford, followed by a memorial service and remembrance from friends at 6:30 p.m. Interment will be private.
