A 21-year-old Darien man was arrested Feb. 11 on disorderly conduct charges after he broke dishes, threw the contents of a refrigerator on the floor and was seen carrying a baseball bat, although he didn’t threaten anyone with it, Darien police said.

Police provided this additional information (including accusations not proven in court):

The incidents occurred days before, on Thursday and Friday, Feb. 9 and 10 at the home where the man lives with family members. Picture frames were also broken and eggs were among the food thrown. No one was reported to have been hurt.

When police were called on Saturday, Feb. 11, they tried to talk to the man, but he refused to speak with them and the situation had calmed down, so police applied for and later received an arrest warrant.

With the warrant, police stopped the man as he was getting into his car on Feb. 25, just before noon. He was arrested on two counts of disorderly conduct and held on $5,000, which was posted. He declined to discuss the matter with police, invoking his right to an attorney. The case is in state Superior Court in Stamford.
