Morris E. O’Brien, 91, of Darien, beloved husband of Doris (Finley) O’Brien for 67 years, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Nov. 9, 2017, at Connecticut Hospice in Branford.

He was born in Stamford on April 7, 1926 to the late Thomas and Margaret (Murphy) O’Brien, and was a longtime Darien resident. Morris, known to many who loved him as “O’Bie” was a U.S. Navy veteran and served in the Pacific during World War II.

He worked as an electrician at Partridge and Rockwell Electric, which later became known as Vivian Electric of Greenwich. He was a proud member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Union.

In addition to his wife, O’Bie is survived by his loving daughter, Mary (O’Brien) Murray, and her husband, Bob, of Killingworth; his grandchildren: Ryan and his wife, Julia, Megan, MaryKate, and Greg Murray and Eric O’Brien; his sister, Betty (O’Brien) Dellapolli; and his estranged children, Janice and Jim O’Brien. O’Bie was preceded in death by his brothers Jack, Frank, Mark and George O’Brien.

A funeral service at Lawrence Funeral Home in Darien and burial will be private at St. John Cemetery in Darien for immediate family only.
