Road crews paving Interstate 95 from Exit 10 to Exit 15 (a project already started further west on the highway) will be providing detour lanes at exit and entrance ramps in Darien and Norwalk at night, state officials announced.

The project starts in August and is expected to be completed in November, according to the announcement.

Here’s the announcement from the Connecticut Department of Transportation:

The Connecticut Department of Transportation [“CTDOT”] is announcing the following 1-95 ramp closures to allow for milling and paving operations: I-95 Southbound Exits 15, 14, 13, 12, 11 & 10 On and Off ramps in Norwalk and Darien during the month of August from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., Monday through Friday.

This work is part of the pavement preservation project along 1-95.  The project begins at mile 10.67 (Exit 10) and ends at log mile 15.91 (Exit 15) in both the northbound and southbound directions. The project consists of micro milling 2.5 inches of the travel surface and replacing it with 3 inches of polymer modified asphalt; and also the replacement of the top 2 inches of the travel surface on all ramps within the project limits.

CTDOT Project No. 35-195 was awarded to O&G Industries, Inc. of Torrington CT on March 17, 2015 at a cost of $14,488,177.50, with an anticipated completion date of Nov. 9, 2015.

Ramp closure detours will be implemented as specified in the Maintenance and Protection of Traffic specifications with the appropriate signage.

Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions.  Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this vicinity.

Additional lane closure information can be found on the Department’s interactive map at www.cttravelinfomap.
