A tree work and tree removal project on the Merritt Parkway between Exit 31 in Greenwich and Exit 33 in Stamford is expected to close traffic lanes for cars headed in either direction from now through April 4, the state Department of Transportation has announced.

Work won’t be done during heavy commuting times; instead it will take place Mondays through Fridays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the northbound-traffic side  and from  9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on the southbound-traffic side.

The project was scheduled to start Monday, March 12, and there will be a break on Easter weekend, Holy Thursday through Easter Sunday.

“Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions,” the ConnDOT announcement said.
