A Conversation with Your Muslim Neighbors Panel Discussion
March 28 @ 7:00 pmFree
The community is invited to meet some of our Muslim neighbors at a panel discussion on Tuesday, March 28, at 7 pm, in the Youth and Community Center at Saint Luke’s Parish, 1864 Post Road, in Darien. The event was rescheduled due to the snow storm earlier in March.
We are living in divisive times where people find themselves unsure of whom to trust. Now more than ever communities need to come together to try to build bridges that overcome fear.
Muslims have been specifically singled out as dangerous and threatening. This has affected how non-Muslim Americans view their fellow Muslim Americans. This panel will attempt to dispel or subvert stereotypical notions of what and who your Muslim American neighbor is. It will give the community an opportunity to have a conversation with their Muslim neighbors who are pillars of their immediate communities.
The panelists are Dolores Durrani, co-founder Saffron Road Foods, Westport; Azra Assaduddin, community activist, member, Interfaith Council of Norwalk; Zeeshaan Fatema Aratsu, history teacher, New Canaan High School; and Ameena Meer, author, brand manager, Sufi, Brooklyn, NY.
The panel will be moderated by Darien author and professor Sharbari Zohra Ahmed. All are welcome to this free community event hosted by Saint Luke’s Parish, http://saintlukesdarien.org/
