Darien Library will host Dr. Eileen Kane for a lecture on “Islam in Europe: A Brief History of a Long Relationship” at 7 p.m., Wednesday, May 10.

Islam and Muslim communities have a long history in Europe that is poorly understood today. This lecture will explore Muslim communities as part of the fabric of European history, with a focus on how migrations have reshuffled Europe’s populations throughout the modern era, and how popular amnesia about this history contributes to anti-Muslim sentiment in Europe today.
