Is Fitness the New Fountain of Youth? Talk by a Doctor on Aging and Exercise
March 8 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm
Aging and Exercise: Is fitness the new fountain of youth? Presented by Marc Kowalsky, MD and Robert Spatz, PT, of Orthopaedic & Neurosurgery Specialists (ONS) on Wednesday, March 8, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Greenwich Hospital Noble Auditorium in Greenwich.
The physical benefits of fitness for people of all ages are well known. In addition to improved quality of life, regular exercise is linked to the prevention of a variety of health problems including cardiovascular disease, cancer, dementia and diabetes. Moreover, the positive role regular exercise and activity plays on the aging body and mind is becoming increasingly clear.
Even for people who haven’t led a particularly active life, evidence suggests it’s never too late to start to receive the benefits of being fit.
Anyone interested in healthy aging should attend this informative talk given by sports medicine specialist, Marc Kowalsky, MD, a shoulder, elbow and knee surgeon with ONS, who will address the challenges of maintaining fitness as the body ages and offer practical solutions to get beyond the aches and pains of aging to lead an active lifestyle.
He will discuss age-specific injury prevention strategies and the physical limitations that can come with age. Exercises to promote strength and stability and adaptive fitness recommendations will be provided by Robert Spatz, PT, of ONS Physical Therapy-Greenwich.
There will be time for questions at the conclusion of the presentation.
This seminar is free and open to the public. Registration is requested and can be done by calling 203-863-4277, or by going online to the events calendar page at Greenwichhospital.org
