Evelyn Isselee, 93, passed away peacefully at her home in Southbury on Nov. 3, 2017.

ObitShe was born March 13, 1924 to Edward Ungemack and Gunhild Hjertquist. After living in Malmo, Sweden for two years, Evelyn attended the Stamford Public Schools. She was an accomplished pianist and competed in basketball and field hockey.

Evelyn graduated from the The Southern Connecticut State Teachers College where she earned a bachelor’s degree and teaching certificate with specialization in exceptional children.

She lived in Darien with her husband, James, while teaching at the elementary level in New Canaan and then the Darien Public Schools. After retiring, Evelyn moved to New Preston where she was a member and deacon of the Washington Congregational Church.

She is survived by her son Charles of Bradenton, Fl.; granddaughter Kathryn Planz; grandsons Timothy and Jeffrey; and four great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, James; daughter-in-law, Kathie; brother, Robert Ungemack; and her parents.

Funeral arrangements will be private.
