Peter Solheim, Darien’s Chief Building Official has been recognized as the “2016 Building Official of the Year” by the Home Builders & Remodelers Association of Fairfield County (HBRA).
The not-for-profit trade organization represents many of the area builders, remodelers, land developers and allied services associated with the real estate development industry.
Solheim, who heads Darien’s Building Department, will be honored at the association’s annual building official’s night held on May 4 at a meeting hosted by Clarke Distributors in South Norwalk.

The meeting will be attended by HBRA members and guests, the Town of Darien First Selectman Jayme Stevenson, the Darien Building Department, and District 8 building official association members. It is an opportunity to show support for their industry and network together on important mutual goals.
Peter Gaboriault, President of the HBRA, a local branch of the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), says the award is a way for builders to show appreciation for the work that building inspectors do guiding a project from start to finish.
“Our members are able to provide a high level of service and quality thanks to the input we receive from our town and city building officials,” says Gaboriault. “This night is always an important opportunity for our builders, remodelers, and associates to collaborate with officials from different municipalities on mutual goals.”
