The Darien Democrats invite all voters to meet their candidates for the municipal election at a Campaign Kickoff reception on Sunday, Oct. 4 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the home of Martha and Gary Banks at 17 Harbor Road in Darien.

Candidates for election November 3rd are Marc Thorne and Rob Richards for Board of Selectmen, Diana Maguire for Board of Finance and Kathrine Stein for Board of Education.

Marc Thorne and Rob Richards will be new faces on the Board of Selectmen. Thorne has lived in town for almost forty years and has been an active member of the Representative Town Meeting with years of service on the RTM’s Rules and Finance and Budget Committees.

Darien Democrats LogoRichards is a more recent resident with more than twenty years experience as a business founder and leader. His children attend Darien schools, and he is active in their parent-teacher organization.

Maguire is currently serving on the Darien Board of Finance. She is a long-time Darien resident with experience in corporate finance who works for an international health charitable organization.

Stein is currently serving on the Darien Board of Education. She chaired the search for our new Superintendent of Schools and also chairs the Policy Committee. Her children attend Darien schools.

Marc Thorne and Rob Richards are focused on continued improvement in the quality of life in our town. They encourage wide community involvement in the proposals for real estate development so that the impacts on our town are anticipated and managed.

They support investments to improve traffic flow and pedestrian safety. They will look for opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce expenses. Most of all, they will ensure that the Board of Selectmen works together to involve the community in finding the best solutions to our challenges.
